Karrie Ward

Hello, Spring Creek!  I am so excited to be teaching in this wonderful school!  This is my fifth year of teaching in DC and my thirty-sixth year in teaching.  With each additional year I teach,  I grow more passionate about my profession and my love for children!

Through my many years of teaching, I have had the awesome opportunity to teach in many different capacities.  These different experiences have helped me gain a lot of insight into the process of how children learn.  My goal as a teacher is that EVERY student I teach, learns to his/her full potential.  I have high expectations for ALL my students, no matter where they are on the learning continuum!

I began my career in 1982 after graduating from Cameron University with an Elementary Education degree with minors in Social Studies and Language Arts.  In 1987 I completed my Master’s Degree to become a Reading Specialist at Southwestern Oklahoma State University.  I returned to SWOSU to complete another graduate degree in Special Education in 1994.

I am married to JD Ward, Senior Minister of New Hope United Methodist Church. We have three sons, one daughter, two daughter-in-laws, one son-in-law, five grandchildren, and one German Shepherd.  I am blessed with a fantastic family whom I am extremely proud of!!

Besides teaching, I enjoy attending church where I sing in the choir, serve on the Worship Team, play the piano, and am a Pastoral Partner.  I also love spending time being grandmother to my grandchildren and attending their events.  Any extra time that is left over, I enjoy sewing and doing crafts.
