WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL
Spring Creek Elementary 2014-2015
Michelle Eidson, Principal
Dear Spring Creek Families,
Welcome back, we are so excited to have our students back in school again! We have some new teachers joining our staff this year and I’m excited for you to get to know them. Building a Legacy is still our main priority and we look forward to working collaboratively with you to make this the best learning experience possible for your child.
We are opening the school year with approximately 420 students. While Deer Creek Schools have not been immune to the economic downturn and state budget cuts, we have been fortunate enough at Spring Creek to keep most of our class sizes relatively small. When compared to many of the districts around us, we’re in great shape!
If you are new to Deer Creek School District we would like to welcome you! There are many great opportunities to get involved in our school! We cordially invite you to attend our PTO meetings and seek out volunteer opportunities that will help you get plugged in to our learning community. For more information on volunteering and getting involved, please stop by our PTO Spirit Store during Meet the Teacher. PTO meetings will be held on the second Tuesday of each month in the media center and will alternate times. Every other month PTO will be held in the evening so all parents have the opportunity to get involved.
I would like to thank you in advance for your support of our teachers, our school, and the efforts that we make to provide your child with the best education possible. You will find the staff at Spring Creek to be dedicated, loving, and compassionate individuals that are excited about working with your children.
This year, thousands of volunteer hours and dollars will be donated to Spring Creek Elementary by parents and patrons of our community. The things that we accomplish for children on a daily basis would not be possible without that level of support. So, for all YOU do….”THANK YOU!!”
Communication between home and school is very important to your child’s success and your involvement in our school. We have a new email system this year so if you are NOT receiving informative emails from me by the end of the first month of school, please stop by our office to make sure you are added to our email distribution list. You may also keep up to date with us by visiting our website www.springcreekelementary.org, Facebook page, or joining School Connect.
School begins Wednesday, August 13; school hours are from 8:35 to 3:35. Children should arrive to school no earlier than 8:20, as there are no adults on duty to supervise before that time.
Parents should enter the campus using the North Entrance. You will follow the arrows all the way around the building in a single lane until you reach the Car Drop-Off Lanes on the south side of the building. At this point the Duty Teacher will guide the first 6 cards to pull up beside a colored post and direct the children from the car into the building. Once these children have safely reached the doors the Duty Teacher will direct the vehicles to move forward to exit the school and the next six cars to move forward and follow the same procedures.
***Please have your child ready to unload when you reach the designated lanes so that we can safely unload students while keeping the traffic flow at a good pace. Parents please stay in your vehicles to help expedite the unloading and loading of students.
**To pick up your child in the afternoon, you will need to have a car rider tag hanging from the rear view mirror of your vehicle. For safety purposes, children will not be allowed to get into the car without this tag. These may be purchased in the office for $3.00 each.
****AFTERNOON CAR RIDER PICK-UP
Please do not walk up to this area to pick up our child. We will not allow children to be picked up from this area this year as it slows down the car line.
Cars should never enter into the bus loop “lanes” during the hours of 8:00-9:00 and 3:00-4:00. This allows the buses to stay on schedule and prevent a child from being injured.
If you need to come into the building to take care of business, please enter the North side of Parent Parking (middle entrance) and then join into the flow of traffic on the South side when leaving. **Please do not park in the Fire lanes for any reason.
**The only two-way traffic is at the beginning of the North Entrance where buses will enter and exit. The middle entrance is an “Entrance” only and the South end is an “Exit” only. Click here for a map.
Thank you for helping us make this a great year!
